Creating a Cress Crown

1 May 2023

With the upcoming Coronation of the King, we brainstormed some unique ideas to mark this momentous occasion.

Our creative minds went to work, drawing inspiration from The King himself. We aimed to create decorations using recycled items found around Bourne View, not only for the current celebration but also for future events.

We stumbled upon a Banquet Cloth and skilfully cut it to the appropriate size. Wrapping it around a square piece of Perspex, generously lent by one of our Colten Companions, we fashioned an elegant centrepiece. To add a regal touch, we fashioned a crown using tin foil obtained from the kitchen. For its base we crafted one using kitchen roll. OurĀ  resident, Wendy, then carefully sowed cress seeds atop the crown, which will sprout and flourish over the next seven days.

This display will take its place as the centrepiece on one of our tables when we gather to celebrate the Coronation. And after the festivities, our chef will incorporate the freshly grown cress into our delightful egg sandwiches, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
