Happy Birthday, John!

Planning ahead with John for his 90th birthday, Companion Julie discovered his wish was to go for a pint on the big day.

Together with his friends, we arranged a lunch with a difference. One of John’s friends picked his favourite pub, and the theme was pirates! 

A huge pirate ship balloon signalled our table. There were also goodie bags with eye patches, pieces of eight, and spy glasses; props for photo fun; and scrolls containing pirate trivia. Later, we re-created the scene in our dining room, so John was able to continue the celebrations at supper with his usual ‘crew,’ who all loved the theme. 

John had a wonderful day, and everyone agreed it had been great fun – a birthday to remember!
