St David’s Day Celebrations
On March 1st of this year, Bourne View came together as a team to celebrate St. David’s Day, the Welsh National Day.
Julie, a member of the companionship team, brought in daffodils and ensured that each dining table had flowers. Additionally, for residents who preferred to have lunch in their rooms, she personally delivered daffodils to them.
Furthermore, our companion Georgia organised a quiz about Wales’s national day, which was printed out and discussed. Meanwhile, Corinne engaged some of the residents by helping them create paper daffodils, which are Wales’s national flower. They folded layers of orange and yellow tissue paper in a concertina fashion and tied them together in the middle with a green pipe cleaner. Some found it a bit tricky to tease apart the layers of tissue with their fingers, which caused much laughter. Howard even congratulated Wendy on creating a beautiful “dahlia.” We all took the light-hearted moment in good spirits.
Finally, we finished the day with a lovely cup of tea and Welsh Cakes made by our award-winning chef, Launa.
