Braemar Quiz Night Raises Funds for Charity

Residents, family members, guests and staff gathered at Braemar Lodge for an evening of friendly competition at the home’s annual Braemar Arms pub quiz. In total, 42 people took part, including guests from the home’s chosen charity, Alabaré.
The evening began with a picture round as teams settled in with a meal of chicken and chips, before moving through a series of quiz rounds that sparked plenty of discussion, laughter and light-hearted rivalry. Conversations flowed between rounds, while quieter moments saw teams huddle together to agree their answers.

A short interval after round seven gave everyone the chance to take part in the raffle draw and refresh their drinks before the final scores were counted. The competition proved close, with a tie-break needed to decide the winners. As anticipation built, Companion Team Leader Graham called for a drum roll before announcing the result, met with warm applause from across the room.
Graham said: “It was a great evening with a real sense of community. Events like this bring residents, families and staff together in such a natural way, while also supporting a charity that means a great deal to us.”
The winning team were presented with the honour of having their names added to the Braemar Arms plaque, which is proudly displayed in the dining room. Residents have continued to talk about the evening, particularly since the engraved plaque returned and was put in place.
Thanks were extended to the home’s chef and hospitality teams, as well as Companion Team members Kelly and Milly for organising the quiz, and Home Manager Jackie for leading the raffle.
All funds raised during the evening will be donated to Alabaré, supporting the charity’s ongoing work in the community.
