A bit of brass!

On a dark autumn evening, Graham gave a demonstration of the trumpet and trombone highlighting the similarities and differences of each.

He passed around a mouthpiece and valve for residents to look at and to show how air moves in each instrument to change the pitch and showed them how to blow raspberries to produce sound which I encouraged them to try for themselves…this resulted in a lot of laughing as they tried it! Graham demonstrated the use of mutes and their way of changing the sound to create a mood or atmosphere to suit a particular style of music. At the end we held a Q&A to allow residents to ask Graham questions and so it was an altogether varied and fun evening activity for us all!
