International Literacy Day

On International Literacy Day, we met in the library for a session on childhood literature.

. Everyone shared their memories of their favourite books from their young days, thinking about the impact of reading for the first time, the illustrations of books and how this helped or hindered enjoyment of a book, the struggles of finding reading material in the second world war, and the stories themselves. There were lots of shared experiences, and also introductions to new books that others’ had not come across. A most enjoyable morning that was appreciated by all.
