Still Life Painting
Painting is a popular activity here at Braemar Lodge, especially the ‘Still Life’ sessions, which happen at least once a month.
Sometimes we focus on a particular artist and take inspiration from their ideas, or we simply find something around the home or garden to paint. Recently, we chose the plants prepared for the Hanging Basket Produce Show competition, which were then to be sold at our Summer Garden Party.
Thus, the plants had four uses: pot painting and planting, competition, still life painting, and raising money for charity! Residents selected specific plants to paint, and this time, everyone used watercolours to create a range of styles and tones. We have some incredibly talented artists here, and they enjoyed quietly engaging in the process, matching the colours, and sharing their final pieces. The group is always warm and encouraging to each other, making it a lovely afternoon.
