Brook View celebrates World Theatre Day with ‘My Fair Lady’ performance

Residents, family, and friends gathered at Brook View to celebrate World Theatre Day with a musical tribute to the beloved classic My Fair Lady, performed by the home’s Silver Brook Choir.
The choir, led by Companion Elizabeth, has been singing together every Monday afternoon for almost 18 months and marked the occasion with an uplifting and entertaining production.

Among the cast was resident Diana, who brought a special touch of authenticity to the performance. In 1977, Diana was the understudy for Eliza Doolittle at the Bournemouth Pavilion and spent 40 years involved with the Poole and Parkstone Productions alongside her husband Len, who played a key role in backstage work and always encouraged her participation.
For this performance, Diana reprised her role as Eliza, captivating the audience with her renditions of “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “Just You Wait.”

The choir performed 11 songs from the musical, including favourites such as “I Could Have Danced All Night” and “Ascot Gavotte.” A particularly memorable moment featured a special guest appearance by Julie Adams as Dover the racehorse, complete with a hobby horse, rider’s hat, and whip. The show concluded with a lively rendition of “Get Me to the Church on Time.”
The event drew an audience of family, friends, and neighbours, all of whom expressed their thanks for an enjoyable and light-hearted afternoon. A total of £40 was raised in support of Brook View’s chosen charity for the year, Gulliver’s Farm Shop.
