A Garden Weekend to Remember at Brook View

21 August 2025

The chance to explore the carefully tended gardens of our West Moors care home raised more than £600 for nursing and health charities, as Brook View proudly took part in the National Garden Scheme (NGS).

Across the weekend, 64 visitors from the local community joined residents and team members to enjoy the garden in full summer bloom. Many of the colourful borders and beds are lovingly maintained by residents themselves, guided by our dedicated gardening team, who were on hand to answer questions and share insights.

Brook View resident Sylvia Paddy, who came along on the Saturday, said: “The garden was proudly on display, the weather was lovely, the sun was shining, and the day was just perfect.”

From our pond and games lawn to the greenhouse, plant stall, garden quiz and raffle, there was plenty to explore. Guests also enjoyed a tempting selection of homemade cakes, freshly baked for the occasion by Brook View Chef Isabella Corbo.

The open weekend followed a special community event celebrating our 30th anniversary earlier in the summer.

Home Manager Abhishek Bagchi said:“It was a joy to welcome so many friends and new faces once again. Just like our anniversary celebration, the NGS open weekend was a beautiful day of connection, laughter, and community spirit. We’re thrilled to have raised £605 for such an important cause.”

Brook View’s NGS weekend was part of a wider programme of garden events across Colten Care homes, including Kingfishers in New Milton and an upcoming open garden at Woodpeckers in Brockenhurst.
