Big Garden Birdwatch

26 January 2024

The ‘Keen Twitchers’ of Brook View got involved in our ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’.

We were fortunately blessed with beautiful weather for the weekend, allowing us to venture out into the garden.

Residents participated enthusiastically, using the easy tick sheet to note down the types of birds they spotted, including Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Blackbirds, Robins, and many others.

To attract more birds, residents also made bird feeders using oranges filled with sweet nectar, with conveniently placed perching sticks.

Many residents enjoyed birdwatching from the comfort of their armchairs in their rooms.

“Even the cheeky squirrels didn’t put them off!” exclaimed Pam.

Paula, Iona, Dorothy, and Gwen all enjoyed making the orange bird feeders, with companions Jo and Christine providing guidance.

Paula helped hang the feeders and then sat back to watch the birds enjoy the sweet treat!

At the end of the weekend, we were able to report our findings on the RSPB website.
