Remembrance Parade
Today, our residents, families, and companions were honored to represent Brook View and participate in the West Moors Remembrance Parade. We had the privilege of laying Brook View’s Poppy wreath at the memorial.
One of our esteemed residents, JoJo, who served in the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Airforce) as a Leading Aircraft Woman, shared her remarkable experiences. JoJo worked on Lancashire and Wellington bombers, drawing on skills acquired during her earlier career as a young dress designer. Despite her aversion to heights, she often found herself standing on aircraft wings, diligently patching and painting damaged planes. Her work took her across the country, and by the end of her service, she had earned the rank of Corporal.
Reflecting on her service, JoJo expressed immense pride in being part of the Victory Parade in London after the war. Today, she thoroughly enjoyed participating in the West Moors parade, underscoring the enduring significance of remembrance and community involvement.
