Care home residents celebrate Chelsea Flower Show with artistic bloom-inspired display

20 May 2025

Residents at Canford Chase have marked one of May’s seasonal highlights — the RHS Chelsea Flower Show — with their own creative tribute inspired by the world-famous event.

With gardening and floral displays a well-loved passion among many at the home, the annual flower show always proves a popular topic. This year, residents gathered to admire the televised highlights of the show, taking in the vibrant colour schemes, innovative garden designs, and imaginative planting techniques on display.

Inspired by what they saw, residents and staff collaborated to create a series of floral-themed artworks.

Using artificial flowers, hoops, clay roses, and coloured paper, they crafted intricate 2D and 3D displays. The results were hung from a garden tree and mounted onto art boards, creating a colourful celebration of horticultural beauty.

The celebration continued with a themed afternoon tea, complete with homemade cakes prepared by the home’s chef and a refreshing gin and tonic. Residents also took part in a flower arranging session to mark the occasion.

Companionship team members said the event was “a lovely way to blend art and nature” and “a celebration of residents’ favourite things: flowers, friendship, and tea.”
