Chocoholics treated at Poole care home

15 July 2025

Residents at Canford Chase in Branksome Park, Poole, enjoyed a day filled with chocolate delights, rounded off perfectly with a showing of the classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder.

To mark World Chocolate Day, staff organised a series of chocolate‑themed activities, including a playful hunt for 50 hidden edible frogs around the home. Residents also explored the history of their favourite chocolate bars and well‑loved brands, sparking plenty of nostalgic conversations.

There were Freddo bars to share, flowing chocolate fountains to dip into, and smiles all round as residents paired the chocolate with both sweet and savoury treats.

Home Manager Charlotte Wilson said:
“Everyone had a fantastic day immersed in chocolate – almost literally when the fountains got going! Audrey and Carol were especially keen to get stuck in, and the whole home enjoyed some wonderful choccy treats. Finishing the day with the original film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the perfect ending.”

World Chocolate Day is celebrated each year, with some linking it to the anniversary of chocolate’s introduction to Europe in 1550. At Canford Chase, it was simply a day of joy, laughter, and plenty of delicious indulgence.
