A Cultural Exchange

Residents at Canford Chase enjoyed a special visit from a group of Japanese students who are spending three weeks in England learning about our culture and language.
The students shared stories about their hometowns, traditions, and aspects of daily life, including the meanings and occasions for wearing kimono and yukata.
A highlight of the afternoon was a hands-on origami workshop. With patience and care, the students guided residents to create cranes, flowers, and other designs, filling the room with laughter and concentration. Residents described the students as kind, polite, and a joy to be with.
It was a heartwarming cultural exchange, blending stories, creativity, and friendship. Everyone is looking forward to welcoming the students back in the future.
