Pancake Day

Pancake Day brought back fond memories for many of our residents.
Barbara shared the story of Shrove Tuesday and its significance, as well as her own family’s preparations for the occasion.
As we discussed on Monday morning, Shrove Tuesday is traditionally a day of feasting before the start of Lent, and our more traditional residents often give up sweet foods or alcohol for the duration of the season.
In the afternoon, we held a contest to see who could flip their pancake the highest without dropping it. There was plenty of encouragement and laughter throughout the competition, as everyone showed off their pancake-flipping skills and reminisced about making pancakes with their own families. While some pancakes did end up on the floor, we eventually moved on to enjoy a delicious selection of toppings, including chocolate, strawberries, bananas, golden syrup, and a sprinkling of sugar. Overall, it was a delightful and memorable event for all involved.
