Stir-Up Sunday

We began the day with a small morning indulgence — fresh cookies — before easing into some gentle “stirring exercises” to get everyone moving.
After lunch, the real fun began as we gathered in the lounge to make our very own Christmas pudding. The room quickly filled with conversation, laughter, and the unmistakable aroma of festive spices.
Residents took an active role throughout, adding ingredients, mixing, and taking turns with the all-important stir—each sharing a warm wish for the year ahead. As we worked, memories of past Christmas traditions flowed easily, including the much-loved custom of hiding a silver sixpence in the pudding. Many recalled how it later became a 20p piece, sparking stories of family rituals, excitement, and the joy of discovering the lucky coin on Christmas Day.
It was a wonderful blend of nostalgia, companionship, and festive creativity—a true celebration of the season.
