The art of decoupage

Another new skill to keep our minds active.  

We recently spent time looking at different skills and art projects we could do collectively as a group. Decoupage, the art the art of decorating objects with paper cut-outs. was one of interest. For our first attempt we made coasters. Using blank rounds of wood, we set about making a floral masterpiece. Residents used a host of skills and techniques to add decoupage glue and the paper to the wooden rounds. There was much discussion about patterns and the various ways this could be completed. As this was the first attempt it was decided a simple and statement pieces would be good to start with and the next time, we would make more complex or variant on the original. The home was a buzz with chatter about the final product with many staff and visitors asking about purchasing items.
