The Great Biscuit Debate
We recently devoted some time to celebrating National Biscuit Day, an annual event in the UK.
During this celebration, we discovered there is more to biscuits than we first thought. The history of the biscuit is a rich tapestry woven with tradition and innovation. Biscuits can be traced back to ancient civilizations, where they were originally used as a way to preserve food. Over time, they evolved into the biscuits we know and love today, now mass-produced and accessible to all.
Biscuits have a way of bringing everyone together. Who can forget the iconic scenes from “Dunkirk,” where soldiers shared a moment of respite over a cup of tea and a biscuit? As we raised our cups, we enjoyed an array of biscuits while discovering their finer points.
What is your favourite biscuit? Do you dunk? Are you fond of a custard cream, a shortcake, or do you think the perfect biscuit is the chocolate digestive? These were some of the questions we asked while tasting the variety of biscuits in front of us.
Who would have thought the humble biscuit would mean something different to each and every one of us!
