Nursing care

Qualified and experienced nursing teams provide compassionate and person centred care 24 hours a day, every day, giving you the reassurance your loved one is being well cared for.

Our teams provide physical and psychological support for those requiring nursing care. In our care homes all residents have a named nurse who is responsible for monitoring our residents' care. The Registered Nurse, supported by care staff, will provide direction of care delivery to our nursing clients. They can look after residents with very complex needs and will, where appropriate, seek advice from external professionals, such as the GP, Macmillan Nurses, Chiropodists etc. Our aim is to meet the needs of our residents in a kind and homely setting and we will only transfer to hospital if, in conjunction with the residents and family, we believe this is the right course of action.

Our nurses are all registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council and act in accordance with this professional body's code of conduct. At Colten care we value training and our nurses attend both statutory and professional development courses to keep our nurses professionally competent and up-to-date. All our nurses are interviewed by the home manager and Clinical Lead during which they will undertake a rigorous interview designed to assess clinical competency.

Our homes offer an enabling environment and we are constantly reviewing best-practise. We research and procure the highest quality nursing equipment to ensure the comfort and safety of our residents. We have the latest profiling nursing beds, moving and handling equipment and hydrotherapy baths.
