Castle View Residents Support Dorchester Foodbank and Food Share

Residents at Castle View in Poundbury have shown their community spirit by raising over £150 for two local food banks, Dorchester Foodbank and Food Share at Dorchester Community Church.

With the help of our Companionship Team, residents organised activities including handmade card sales, second-hand book stalls, and raffles. Together, we used the money raised to shop for essential items requested by the food banks, from tinned fruit and vegetables to pasta, rice, and long-life milk.

It was a proud moment for everyone when Tracy Hughes from Dorchester Foodbank and Liz Meech from Food Share visited Castle View. Residents enjoyed hearing about the impact of their efforts, with stories of families and children helped by community donations. Joan Edwards, one of our residents, said, “I didn’t realise how much food poverty there is in our area. It means a lot to be able to help.”

Some residents also visited the community church to see how food parcels are prepared and meet Food Share volunteers. “It’s been eye-opening and inspiring,” said Companionship Team Leader Hayley Legg. “We are determined to keep supporting these vital services.”
