Castle View Residents Enjoy ‘High Tea with a Difference’ at Sandfoot Gardens

Residents from Castle View in Poundbury recently swapped their usual surroundings for the picturesque setting of Sandfoot Gardens, where they enjoyed a “High Tea with a Difference” overlooking the historic ruins of Sandfoot Castle and Portland Harbour.
The outing, organised in response to resident wishes, saw Companion Team Leader Hayley coordinate a high tea picnic complete with traditional touches.
Sandwiches and cakes prepared by the home’s chef, and fresh fruit were served by Driver Nick using fine china and a proper teapot, laid out on a floral tablecloth to create a sense of elegance and occasion.

Residents Joan, Betty, Kay, and Violet were delighted by the experience. “It’s lovely to have tea in a teapot and in a lovely cup,” said one. Another added, “This is a special trip to remember.”
“The idea was to turn a simple picnic into something meaningful and memorable,” said Hayley. “Something as small as real teacups and a good view can have a big impact on wellbeing — bringing comfort, sparking conversation, and encouraging connection.”
The group spent a relaxed afternoon enjoying the peaceful garden surroundings before finishing the day with a scenic drive along Weymouth Beach. Plans are already underway for another high tea outing at a new location.
