Cat Café Visit Rekindles Fond Memories for Castle View Resident

31 July 2025

A lifelong cat lover from Castle View care home in Poundbury recently enjoyed a special trip to a local cat café, rekindling treasured memories and bringing a smile to her face.

Violet, a resident at the home, often speaks fondly of the many cats she’s had over the years — from tabbies to black cats, each with its own personality. Over coffee chats, she’s shared stories of her favourites, including Muffty, Sammie, Suzie, Bertie, Ben Bruce, and Oscar.

When Violet mentioned how much she missed being around cats, the team at Castle View arranged a visit to the Tabby Terrace cat café. She was joined by a companion from the home, and the pair were welcomed with coffee, cake, and the company of several resident cats.

“It was wonderful to see Violet light up as soon as the cats came over to say hello,” said Hayley, Companionship Team Leader at Castle View. “One curled up beside her, another climbed onto her wheelchair. She was smiling the entire time.”

Among the cats who made themselves at home were Beenz, Sushi, and Bubble – all seemingly just as curious about Violet as she was about them.

“The visit may have been simple, but the joy it brought was immeasurable,” Hayley added. “It was a lovely reminder of how meaningful small acts can be, especially when they connect someone with a part of their past.”
