Castle View Honours Emergency Services

Residents at Castle View Care Home have shown their appreciation for local emergency services with a special cake delivery and afternoon tea.

An assortment of cakes baked by the home’s chef, Bea, was prepared as a thank-you gesture. The afternoon began with resident Betty enjoying a trishaw ride to the local fire station, where she personally handed over a box of cakes. The trishaw, provided by the charity Cycling Without Age, made the outing even more memorable.

Back at the home, residents welcomed Community Officer Jane, who joined them for tea and cake.

The visit sparked lively conversation, with residents asking Jane thoughtful questions about her work. Before she left, Betty and fellow resident Margaret presented her with another box of cakes to take back to the station for her colleagues.

“It was wonderful to see our residents actively connecting with the people who keep our community safe,” said Hayley, Companion Team Leader at Castle View. “They were so proud to be able to give something back, and Jane’s visit meant a great deal to everyone here.”

The annual Emergency Services Day, also known as 999 Day aims to educate the public about how ‘blue light’ responders such as the police, fire and ambulance services, and mountain rescue and coastguard, operate, and to promote responsible contact from those who request their help.
