Castle View Brings Resident’s Exhibition Dream to Life

Castle View helped make resident Joan’s long-held wish a reality with a visit to the Dorset Art & Craft Exhibition at Purbeck School in Wareham. Running since 1907, the exhibition celebrates creativity and talent from across the region.
Joan was joined by friends and fellow residents Violet and Betty for the day, beginning with a scenic drive to Corfe Castle, where they enjoyed a picnic overlooking the historic ruins. The peaceful setting and stunning views provided the perfect start to the outing.
At the exhibition, Joan, a passionate painter who regularly attends Castle View’s weekly art club, was captivated by the art displays and craft stalls. She explored each piece in detail, discussing techniques and drawing inspiration from the creativity around her.
Reflecting on the day, Joan said: “I’ve absolutely loved the experience — I can’t thank everyone enough for helping make my wish come true.”
Companionship Team Leader Hayley added: “It was wonderful to see Joan so engaged and inspired. Helping our residents pursue their passions and experience new adventures is what makes days like this so special.”

Cat Café Visit Rekindles Fond Memories for Castle View Resident

A lifelong cat lover from Castle View care home in Poundbury recently enjoyed a special trip to a local cat café, rekindling treasured memories and bringing a smile to her face.
Violet, a resident at the home, often speaks fondly of the many cats she’s had over the years — from tabbies to black cats, each with its own personality. Over coffee chats, she’s shared stories of her favourites, including Muffty, Sammie, Suzie, Bertie, Ben Bruce, and Oscar.
When Violet mentioned how much she missed being around cats, the team at Castle View arranged a visit to the Tabby Terrace cat café. She was joined by a companion from the home, and the pair were welcomed with coffee, cake, and the company of several resident cats.
“It was wonderful to see Violet light up as soon as the cats came over to say hello,” said Hayley, Companionship Team Leader at Castle View. “One curled up beside her, another climbed onto her wheelchair. She was smiling the entire time.”
Among the cats who made themselves at home were Beenz, Sushi, and Bubble – all seemingly just as curious about Violet as she was about them.
“The visit may have been simple, but the joy it brought was immeasurable,” Hayley added. “It was a lovely reminder of how meaningful small acts can be, especially when they connect someone with a part of their past.”
