A Knitted Tribute at Sherborne Abbey

Residents Violet, Betty, and others from Castle View recently visited Sherborne Abbey to explore The Longest Yarn exhibition.

This remarkable display, The Longest Yarn – Britain at War, features 80 knitted scenes created by artists across the UK, capturing how ordinary people endured and adapted during wartime.

The exhibition also includes Castle View’s own life-sized figures, Army of Duty Calls, honouring those who served both on the home front and in active service. Residents admired the intricate craftsmanship and reflected on the history and stories behind each scene. A donation from the home contributed to the exhibition, supporting veterans and Sherborne Abbey.
