Lulworth Castle

17 September 2025

As part of National Heritage Week, we were delighted to take four of our residents – Margaret, Muriel, Betty, and Peggy – to visit the historic Lulworth Castle.

Thanks to the National Heritage Open Days, admission was free, giving us a wonderful opportunity to explore this remarkable landmark.

The 17th-century castle, which was devastated by fire in August 1929, has since been carefully restored on the outside by the Weld family with support from English Heritage. Inside, visitors can discover fascinating displays telling the story of the castle, along with beautifully recreated rooms such as the hall, kitchen, and scullery, showing how life would have looked in its time.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit, finishing the day with a lovely afternoon tea – the perfect way to round off a memorable trip!
