Making A Bonfire Night Cake

Residents recently enjoyed making and decorating a themed Bonfire Night Cake, followed by a quiz on Guy Fawkes and a word search.
The base of the cake was crafted from Parkin, a cake traditionally made with oatmeal and black treacle. This culinary delight originated in the north of England, particularly associated with Yorkshire.
Parkin holds a close connection to Bonfire Night, commemorating the failed plot of the Yorkshireman, Guy Fawkes, to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.
