Court Lodge residents say hello to Honeypot

20 March 2025

Residents from Court Lodge recently visited one of the bases of their 2025 charity of the year, Honeypot Children’s Charity.

Lesley Saunders and Anne Burchell were accompanied by Companionship Team Leader, Julia Puia, on their visit to Honeypot House in the New Forest National Park – where it all began for the charity over 25 years ago.

Since 1996, Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and a holistic range of services. Honeypot’s mission is: ‘To build brighter futures for young carers and create happy childhood memories they can cherish for a lifetime.’

With the support of the dedicated Companionship Team, a visit to Honeypot House was arranged for residents of Court Lodge, who were shown around the home.

“With so many events and activities planned to try and raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity, we thought it might be nice to go and visit the house itself and get a better understanding of it,” explained Julia.

The guided tour included a visit to the playgrounds, the art studio, the games room, and the main house itself.

Julia said: “It’s in the middle of the Forest, so all we could hear was birds singing – it was ever so peaceful.”

“The house had a nice feel to it,” Anne added. “I could just envision all the children running around the grounds; being there opened our eyes as to just how much they do for the children.”

Residents expressed how much they enjoyed the experience, appreciating the opportunity to see one of the charity’s bases of operations.

Following a donation of £1,617.00 to their 2024 charity of the year, Court Lodge are hoping to raise an equally impressive sum throughout the coming months.

“We are hoping to raise a nice amount of money this year to support the children and the cost of keeping Honeypot House going though out the year,” said Julia.

The home’s first fundraising event will see them host a children’s Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday 15th April.
