Celebrating 35 Years Together with Scottish Dancing

28 November 2025

Court Lodge residents John and Brenda, who first met 35 years ago while learning Scottish dancing, were treated to a special celebration this November.

With John unable to dance, the home arranged for a group of Scottish dancers to perform traditional routines in the lounge.

The dancers shared the stories behind the music, costumes, and cultural traditions, while residents joined in to watch and enjoy the performance. The celebration continued with afternoon tea, cake, a display of roses, a bouquet of flowers, and a small toast.

Brenda said, “It felt as though I had been transported back in time — it was a really special moment.”

The event provided a meaningful way to mark 35 years together, surrounded by friends, family, and the care home community.

Companionship Team Leader Julia added: “It was a joy to see John and Brenda so happy and to bring a little of their favourite hobby into the home. Moments like this are what make our community so special.”
