Fernhill residents put their stamp on World Art Day

4 April 2025

Fernhill marked World Art Day with a celebration of colour, creativity, and community spirit, as residents and staff came together to take part in an afternoon of artistic expression.

The event saw a wide variety of art tools laid out for participants to explore, from paintbrushes to sponges, encouraging everyone to find their own unique style. Residents and team members alike rolled up their sleeves and embraced the chance to unleash their inner artist.

Resident Robert enjoyed the immersive experience, commenting to Companion Angela Thorn: “It all looks so colourful.” Meanwhile, Iris added a splash of humour and colour when she dipped her hands into paint, laughing as she pressed her palms onto the canvas to leave a vibrant handprint.

Nurse Agnieszka Ciok was thrilled to take part in the session, supporting resident Richard as he created his own expressive piece. Elsewhere, Sandra concentrated on painting delicate pink flowers. She said: “The activity makes me feel so happy.”

Companionship Team Leader Cara Duroe said: “We’re committed to providing opportunities for meaningful, creative engagement for all. The atmosphere was full of laughter and inspiration, and the space was soon transformed — a true tribute to the power of art.”
