Rock ‘n’ Royalty: Elvis Returns to Fernhill for a Day of Kings

4 July 2025

Residents at Fernhill, our dementia care home in Ferndown, Dorset, were treated to a surprise fit for royalty as Elvis tribute artist Thomas Gabbini made a return visit for a special celebration.

Marking the official birthday of King Charles III, the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ brought his signature style and energy back to Fernhill following a hugely popular first performance. Residents danced and sang along to classics like That’s All Right Mama, Blue Suede Shoes, and Jailhouse Rock.

Elvis fans Michele, Kiki, and Robert were among the first on the dance floor. Michele, laughing as she danced, said: “Ooh, I love Elvis—just look at those hips!”

Robert, a lifelong Elvis admirer, added: “Wow, what a treat!” He was later crowned ‘King for the Day’ by the Fernhill team, donning robes and a crown beside a cardboard cutout of King Charles. “What a day,” he said. “Now I know what it feels like to be a King.”

Companionship Team Leader Cara Duroe said:
“Thomas brings so much joy and energy to the home. It was a day full of laughter, memories, and music—fit for two Kings.”
