What’s the story?
You’re never too old to enjoy a good beer, this is what we did in our Beer Tasting day for Fernhill. We gathered the residents, relatives and staff to join us for the day. Tasting the 3 beers, deciding which one tastes better and then choosing a name for a Colten Beer. The beers we tried were Stroller, Queen’s Jubilee and Head Lander each beer was tasted, and then scored. The residents relatives and staff found the most popular to be Head Lander as the taste wasn’t as strong the hops giving floral aromas and a mild bitter flavour, Queen’s Jubilee was 2nd as again it was mellow and milder. and the least popular was the Stroller blackcurrants and liquorice push through the mouth feel to a bitter finish only two of our tasters actually liked this one. One resident said “I have really enjoyed doing this” as she rolled the beer around and really tasted each one. I asked her “Have you done this before?” To which she replied “yes, I was a landlady of a pub years ago, and this is bringing back memories of the pub.”
