Anthony’s Wish

A former RAF pilot, Anthony spent his youth flying the legendary Tiger Moth.

He told us that it was his dream to visit Compton Abbas Airfield once more and we were delighted to make his wish come true this week. 

We set off with a couple of other residents, including Ron – a former RAF service technician. “I love this place,” he said, as we stepped off the minibus. 

We were joined by Anthony’s daughter, Sarah, for lunch. She shared stories of how her father and mother used to visit the airfield often; it was a cherished spot from their past. 

We had hoped to see Spitfires, but the weather was not on our side. Despite this, everyone had a lovely time, and the day was filled with laughter and reminiscing as Anthony, Ron, and the others traded stories from their days of service.
