Easter Simnel Cake

Our residents had a delightful afternoon tea accompanied by a slice of Easter Simnel cake.

They praised the chef for doing an excellent job! Ann Marie, one of our companions, explained that the 11 marzipan balls on top of the cake represent the 12 apostles. Simnel cake has been enjoyed for centuries, and the combination of the light, fruity almond cake with a layer of marzipan was a hit with our residents. A few of them even asked if there were any extra slices available!
