Sammy, The Miniature Pony, Comes to Wish Shelia Happy Birthday

Resident Sheila said that she would love to see more animals in the home, so we arranged a special visit from Sammy the miniature pony for her birthday. 

Sheila’s face lit up when he came into the lounge. “Oh, you’re so sweet,” she exclaimed, as she tickled the top of his tufty fringe.  

Owner, Fiona Guile, told her Sammy was three years old and 32” tall. “He’s a very sociable pony: he’s very calm and loves people, making him a perfect therapy pony,” Fiona explained. 

“I love him,” said June. “What a lovely coat he has, just like mine!” 

Companion Team Leader, Cara, walked Sammy around the home with Fiona, so everyone had the chance to meet him. He was quite the star attraction, and it was lovely to see the joy on the residents faces. His beautiful soft coat provided a wonderful sensory experience for our residents. 

After seeing the positive impact his visit had on the whole home, Sammy will be back in the future – we’re especially excited to see the Christmas outfit he has!
