Fête on the Beach: Summer Celebration at Kingfishers Raises Over £1,200 for Local Charities

Residents, families and friends of Kingfishers Care Home in New Milton came together for a fun-filled afternoon inspired by the British seaside, raising £1,252 for two local charities in the process.
The garden at Kingfishers was transformed into a beach-themed haven for the home’s summer fête, just a short distance from Barton on Sea. With seaside props, a barrow of booze, and stalls brimming with cakes, plants and tombola prizes, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Live music from local vocalist Jenny Oag set the tone for a relaxed and joyful afternoon. But it was the grand raffle, with a brand new mountain bike as the star prize, that brought in most of the funds, helping to support two local causes: Elsie’s Rose, a bereavement charity, and Hampshire Search and Rescue.
Resident Averil Meek shared her thoughts:
“What a fantastic day we had. Lots of fun, good music and meeting people from our local community.”
Kingfishers Companionship Team Leader Rose Arcellana said:
“It was a lovely fun afternoon with smiles all round. We’ll definitely bring the beach to Kingfishers again.”

Looking Ahead
Our next community event is a Mexican-themed barbecue on Wednesday 20 August, in support of roof repairs at New Milton Baptist Church. The event will feature a special performance by resident Mollie Speirs on the piano, with a limited edition CD available to purchase.
