Today we celebrated German Oktoberfest at Kingfishers. We decorated our main lounge with lovely garlands and created an Oktoberfest atmosphere by putting a long table in the lounge, which residents could sit next to and opposite each other like at the Munich Oktoberfest. Our kitchen chef baked fresh pretzels which were enjoyed by our lovely residents along with Bratwurst and mustard. We also offered German Pilsener beer which went down very well. We handed out some themed Oktoberfest paper glasses which everybody loved. We played typical German brass band music whilst our residents were eating. Afterwards we sang along to songs like ‘Roll out the Barrel’ and Wooden Hearts from Elvis. Everybody had a great time. We heard lots of singing, saw lots of smiles and felt lots of happiness.
