Open Garden Event
Our Manager Zoe Mills opened the event at 11am.
We had a very windy day but the rain held off and the sun shone most of the time. A steady stream of people came to our Open Garden event; mostly neighbours from neighbouring addresses and family and friends supported us too. Volunteers John and Christine held a teddy tombola on behalf of Julia’s House, which was a big hit with our residents. ‘Oh isn’t this fun’ said Rita Mills who won two teddies out of three tickets.
If you walked around the garden you could see our new pond and our new Copper Kingfisher. Then you took a left and walked around past the apple tree towards the arch where there is an amazing carving of an owl set in the border. Next is our greenhouse and our vegetable garden. Last but not least, our lavender walk before you walk back to the patio. The flowers and roses all in bloom.
Tea, coffee and squash with lots of lovely cakes made by our chef James were being served by Julietta in the main lounge. Resident Terry Brown named our Copper Kingfisher ‘King’. Then at 3pm we called the raffle with wonderful prizes which Tracy our Customer Advisor sourced. These ranged from Chewton Glen Breakfast, tickets for Hurst Castle, Lord Bute and Morrisons, lots of cake and two bottles of spirits. Then there was our BIG raffle prize of a Wheelbarrow full of Booze! This was won by Colin Hayley ticket pink 137. Most of our residents won prizes and are very happy with their wins. We had around 80 guests who attended this garden event. We raised an amazing amount of over £800.00 for our chosen charity, Julia’s House. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
