Leading with Calm Confidence

As Home Manager at Linden House, Priya brings over 20 years of nursing and dementia care experience. She leads with quiet confidence, deep compassion, and an unwavering belief in every person’s right to feel safe, understood, and valued.

Why Dementia Care?

“Every person deserves a life filled with purpose, dignity and meaning, regardless of a dementia diagnosis.”

Priya began her journey with Colten Care in 2002 as a Nurse and has worked across both clinical and leadership roles. But it was during her time as Senior Clinical Lead at Linden House that everything changed.

What began as a career in nursing became a calling in dementia care. For Priya, this wasn’t just about clinical skill, it was about connection.

“That was the moment I realised I could make a real difference, not just through medical care, but by helping people feel known, respected and valued every single day.”

She’s seen first-hand how the right environment and thoughtful, personalised care can bring real comfort to both residents and families. Her leadership is rooted in empathy, trust and the belief that everyone deserves to be treated as a person, not just a patient.

“My goal is to lead a home where every resident feels they belong, every family feels supported, and every team member feels empowered to deliver their very best in dementia care.”

What a Day Looks Like

No two days at Linden House are quite the same, and that’s something Priya values deeply. Her mornings begin with handover, setting a calm and focused tone for the team, discussing resident updates, care priorities, and anything families have shared.

“It’s important to me that everyone starts the day feeling supported and clear in their role. That sense of calm and consistency filters through everything we do.”

You’ll often find Priya out on the floor, not behind a desk. Whether she’s observing care, catching up with a resident, or checking in with a colleague, her leadership is visible, warm, and quietly reassuring.

She also supports her team with reflective supervisions, works closely with health professionals, and ensures the home meets the highest clinical and compliance standards.

“My role is about more than oversight. It’s about creating an environment where residents feel safe and understood, and where staff feel confident, valued, and proud of the care they give.”

Priya also makes time for families, to listen, reassure, or simply be present when it matters most.

“Every day here is a blend of compassion, leadership, and learning. I feel incredibly grateful to be part of that journey.”

What Makes Linden House Special

What stands out most to Priya about Linden House is the deep sense of community, not just among the residents and families, but within the team itself.

“There’s a shared purpose here. Everyone is focused on what really matters, helping each resident feel known, respected, and comfortable in their own space.”

As a dedicated dementia care home, Linden House is purpose-built to support every aspect of life with memory loss. It’s more than design, it’s daily rhythms that feel familiar and care that honours dignity, and staff who genuinely know the people they care for.

“Because we focus solely on dementia, we can tailor everything,  from how we welcome someone in, to how we support their independence. That makes a real difference.”

Priya believes it’s the little things that create a sense of belonging: the smile of a familiar face, a favourite chair placed just so, or a calming walk through the garden on a sunny afternoon.

“What makes Linden House feel like home isn’t one big thing, it’s all the small, thoughtful moments added together.”

A Moment That Moved Me

There are many moments that have stayed with Priya over the years, but one in particular still brings a quiet smile.

“We were running a music session, and one resident, who had been non-verbal for quite some time, suddenly responded to a personalised piece we’d chosen just for them. Their eyes lit up. Then came a smile. It was deeply moving, not just for me, but for their family and everyone in the room.”

For Priya, these are the moments that speak louder than any care plan. They’re reminders of why presence, patience, and personal connection matter so deeply in dementia care.

“Even when words are no longer possible, emotion and recognition remain. When we take the time to truly know someone, we can still reach them, and that’s powerful.”

What I Wish More People Knew

If there’s one thing Priya wishes more people understood about dementia care, it’s that it’s never just about tasks.

“It’s about relationships. It’s about seeing the whole person, their history, their habits, their emotions, and responding in a way that honours who they are, not just who they were.”

Everyone’s experience with dementia is different. That’s why Priya encourages families and teams alike to approach each day with empathy, patience, and a willingness to listen.

“There’s no one-size-fits-all. But when you slow down, build trust, and focus on connection, you can make a lasting difference, even in the smallest of moments.”
