This morning a group of friends met over morning coffee and before long were reminiscing about their dancing days which eventually led to discussing favourite dance halls, dance tunes and of course, favourite perfumes. Surprisingly, these were mostly floral with the exception of 4711, which you can still buy today. This Eau de Cologne was first manufactured in 1799 and is still very popular today. Janet’s favourite is the Yardley Poppy and Violet, whilst many of the group liked the English Lavender and English Rose. Yardley was established in 1770 and by the beginning of the 20th Century was a major producer of soap and perfumes. In 1910 the company moved to London’s Bond Street and in 1921 was awarded its first Royal Warrant and today proudly hold two.
