About Our Community So, after collecting the ingredients together Elaine strained the gin-soaked beech leaves through a piece of muslin, after which 200g sugar was dissolved in 350mls of warm water. This was carefully combined with a small amount of brandy then added to the other ingredients, then bottled ready for Christmas.
