An Armchair Trip To Lapland

On a cold and overcast afternoon, a group of friends took their seats for an armchair trip to Lapland.
Upon arrival, we embarked on a virtual sleigh ride through the breath-taking countryside, where we encountered a large herd of reindeer.
Lapland is home to over 200,000 reindeer, outnumbering the human population of 178,000.
Continuing our virtual journey through the spectacular Lapland countryside, we learned interesting facts about the region.
Lapland constitutes about one-third of Finland’s total area and, although not a separate country, is a distinct region with approximately 178,000 residents, with half of them residing in the regional capital, Rovaniemi.
As we travelled to Abisko National Park, we were treated to a simulation of the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis, the northern lights.
This natural light show is a result of prevailing winds preventing cloud formation, ensuring clear skies for the captivating display.
While our armchair adventure did not lead us to encounter Santa Claus, we decided to take a virtual break for coffee and cake.
Coffee holds significance in the spiritual wellbeing of Lapland residents and is often accompanied by a slice of “squeaky cheese,” named for the sound it makes against the teeth. In Lapland tradition, both are enjoyed outdoors in peace and quiet.
However, we unanimously agreed that during colder months, we prefer to enjoy ours indoors.
