Getting Ready for the Theatre

What better way to pass the time on a wet and windy Saturday morning than to reminisce about getting ready for a night at the theatre.

This led to a lengthy discussion about washing hair and styling with those dreadful rollers followed by putting on makeup before dressing. Next came the discussion about the dress, long or short and what colour, blue being the most popular. Having chosen the dress and a piece of jewellery it was decided that a young lady would not be seen out in polite society without wearing her white gloves, how times have changed. Fran commented that she would not want to get her hair wet after having suffered the pain of the rollers so she would wear a head scarf and remove it once she reached the theatre.  A popular mode of transport was the car, but a few ladies said that they often used the bus as they arrived frequently, and the fare was reasonable.
