Items from Yesteryear

On this damp and overcast morning, many of our residents decided to stay indoors, and what better way to spend the time than by taking a trip down memory lane to our childhood days?
We brewed some coffee and delved into Chris’s treasure trove of memorabilia, which ranged from shammy leathers for cleaning car windscreens to a Typhoo tea caddy and strainer. These items transported us back to the time before the invention of tea bags. As we perused wooden rolling pins, pastry brushes, and butter pats, we shared memories that stirred up long-forgotten emotions. Even the old driving license and ration book triggered nostalgia for a bygone era.
Towards the end of our session, we passed around picture cards that brought to life the fond memories of seaside trips – from the helter skelter to fish and chips in newspaper, ice cream, and donkey rides on the beach.
As lunchtime approached, we promised to meet again soon for another nostalgic jaunt into the past.
