After the tables had been cleared in Bucklers Hall, and everyone had decided which team to join and taken their seats, Chris offered drinks. While the drinks were being served, much discussion took place between the teams regarding team names. Eventually, the teams settled on “The Shorties” and “The Old Fogies,” and the quiz commenced.

The teams were evenly matched and highly competitive, so it was no surprise that the scores were close throughout the evening. At the end of the quiz, the score was tied at 30 points each. To determine the winner, a tie-breaking question was asked: “I begin my journey in the Great Lakes of Central Africa and make my way through jungles and deserts, before finally reaching the Mediterranean. Which river am I?” Nigel knew the answer: The Nile.

This earned a point for The Old Fogies, bringing their total score to 31 points and securing their victory. Commiserations to The Shorties, who came so close.
