Our Gardens

At Colten Care, we pride ourselves on our beautiful and stimulating gardens. We recognise that many of our residents had such gardens themselves, and that gardening may have been a special pastime for them. We like to think that we can offer residents the opportunity to continue that pastime in whatever way they feel appropriate.

Whether you enjoy walking amongst the blossoming buds, or just simply wish to keep a watchful eye on the sparrows and squirrels, we hope you find a piece of the garden to make your own.

"The best aspects of my job include adding rare and unusual plants to the already established gardens and planting new plants that even my manager has not come across before! I enjoy hearing all the positive resident, visitor and staff comments about the gardens. Residents love to be involved in the garden and ask questions about the plants, which I am always happy to answer. They also take pleasure in running over my hosepipe when I'm trying to water! I know after my working day that I have made a difference and, for me, it's all about the people and the plants. The gardens are the resident's gardens and I am playing a part in making them smile, which in return makes me smile!"
