Come And Look At Our Quilt

At Newstone House, we are honoured to have been invited to be custodians of the Sturminster Newton Quilt.
This quilt was constructed by the local quilting guild to commemorate Sturminster Mill, which has been in continual use for over 200 years and is one of a series of ancient flour mills built on the River Stour. It is believed that there may have been a mill on this site since Saxon times, with records suggesting its existence as early as 1016.
Visitors and residents alike are delighted to see and appreciate this gorgeous handmade artwork, which has brought smiles to many faces. Family member Elizabeth Wray assembled the final piece and is shown here with resident Jane Horner.
