Remembering the War
We held a wonderful wartime recollection session where residents were able to reminisce and tell stories of their experiences during the war.
We shared memories from the time and recollected incidents of the period. There was much talk about the effects and emotions of curfews and air raids. We discussed how rationing affected lives before and after the war and used many props which helped describe our residents’ experiences.
It was fascinating hearing the reminiscences and learning how people coped during the most difficult, challenging, and life-changing of times.
Here, Sylvia is doing a splendid job of modelling a genuine air raid warden’s hat and holding up a ration book.
