Special Artwork

In memory of one of our residents, Rosemary Cottrell, her daughter Jenny kindly donated pieces of artwork from Richard Atherstone Genders, who was Rosemary’s cousin.

Richard served in the Navy as a medic during WWII after emigrating with his family to Indianapolis in the United States. His father served as a “Rough Rider” in Cuba and later joined the famous Buffalo Bill Show. After the war, Richard became a combat artist, painting naval actions for both public and historical records.

The residents were fascinated by Jenny’s afternoon presentation and celebrated the paintings with prosecco and stories.
