The I DO Crew

One of our residents’ granddaughters, who also used to work at Newstone, is getting married so we organised a “Hen Do” for the residents and the family.
We popped champagne and pink lemonade to toast Amber and her fiancé. We all enjoyed delicious pink cupcakes, made by our chef. The smell of the cupcakes filled the room with warmth and happiness. Amber, the future bride, enjoyed reading the messages each resident prepared for the occasion.
Muriel recorded a special song on the recorder and worked hard with Ruth on making a wedding present. It was a lovely experience for not only Muriel as the grandmother who was donned in a sash, but also the other residents and our staff. Since the theme was pink, our carers and nurses had pink headbands and Maz, was dressed in a pink cardigan and a unicorn dress or as she called it, her ‘party dress’.
Amber then threw the bouquet of flowers, and our nurse Leanne caught it. We are now planning another Hen Do!
